WHO WE ARE

International Women's Forum - Israel

Our Goal

IWF Israel is committed to advancing women's leadership by empowering Israeli women across diverse fields. The forum fosters personal connections, mutual support, and collaboration among its members- each a leader in her domain.

Through mentorship, networking, and professional development programs, IWF Israel enhances women's influence in decision-making arenas while strengthening ties with global leaders. The forum also promotes cross-sector cooperation, international representation, and next-generation leadership through initiatives such as the Fellows Program, and the annual IWF Award, recognizing outstanding Israeli women.

Mrs. Sarah Meltzer- Late Founder of IWF Israel, a Trailblazing Leader and Visionary

Portrait of Mrs. Sarah Meltzer

Mrs. Sarah Meltzer was a pioneering leader who left a lasting impact across various sectors, including the military, government, and non-profit organizations. She also served as the personal secretary to David Ben-Gurion, Israel’s first Prime Minister.

As an organizational and strategic advisor to IWF Israel’s leadership, Sarah played a crucial role in expanding the organization’s global reach. She was instrumental in organizing international conferences, such as in Singapore, and worked tirelessly to foster regional collaboration, advocating for the inclusion of Jordan
and Morocco in IWF.

Her vision and dedication helped shape IWF into a truly international network, leaving behind a remarkable legacy of leadership and progress.

In Her Own Words: The Founding of IWF Israel

"The forum in Israel began in 1993, and in 1996 we joined the global forum. Phyllis Kaminsky and five other members worked to establish the forum in Israel, aiming to precede the forum in Egypt during the presidency of Suzanne Greenwood, who came to Israel to set up an official forum.

In her honor, Hanna Ben David invited 27 members to introduce the organization. Ruby Shamir, representing the America-Israel Friendship League, organized the visit. I personally agreed to join the forum because it was an international organization and did not compete with other women’s organizations.

In order to register as a forum in the international organization, we had to submit a list of 20 founding members for approval by the global IWF. The acceptance process was long and complicated, the bylaws were even more so, and we witnessed the many challenges regarding the conference regulations.

Since then, the Israeli forum has grown to become highly influential within the international organization, and two international conferences have been held."
